SSA Fundraiser in the aftermath of Sandy

The Solomon Schechter Academy of Montreal devised a creative Tikkun Olam fundraiser to help students in the Schechter School of Long Island who are still suffering effects of the devastating storm Sandy. The SSA raised funds as students paid to not wear their school uniforms.

Grades 1-2-3 paid $1 and grades 4-5-6 paid $2.
Teachers paid $5 to wear Blue Jeans.

The uniform free fundraiser on Friday, November 9th was a great success.  A Skype conference between their grade 6 classes and our Student Council has been scheduled to “present the funds” to their students, Head of School and President of their Board of Trustees. This exchange offers an opportunity to have a personal impact on all involved as the schools in both communities teach the values of Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam.

The board president of the SSA of Montreal will join the Student Council and the Head of School for the presentation.
